Criminal operations in Abuja have suffered a fresh setback after the FCT Police Command arrested several suspects.
The command also rescued three kidnapped victims during separate operations across the Federal Capital Territory.
The arrests followed a review of crime patterns and increased police action against robbery, kidnapping and traffic-related offences.
Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi disclosed the development during a briefing on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Police arrested 10 suspects accused of using hawking as a cover for traffic robbery around busy roads.
Another 20 people were arrested for traffic offences, including driving against traffic. They were later charged to court.
The command also arrested Ismail Tasiu, 32, and Adamu Aliyu, 35, over alleged robbery cases in Nyanya and Kubwa.
Five motorcycles, three knives and a licence plate were reportedly recovered from the suspects.
Police also recovered a face cap linked to Kaduna State Vigilante Service.
In another operation, officers arrested two suspected kidnappers identified as Godwin Afekhide and Aaron Ogbu.
Police said the suspects were linked to the alleged abduction of three residents in Nyanya on August 14.
The Abuja kidnapping arrests led to the rescue of all three victims. They were reportedly found unharmed and reunited with their families.

However, six additional suspects were also arrested over alleged night-time housebreaking and theft.
The FCT Police Command said its operations would continue across Abuja. Officers are also working to identify criminal hideouts and disrupt suspected criminal networks.
The commissioner urged residents to share credible information about suspicious activities within their communities.
