President Bola Tinubu has met Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke following his victory in the recent governorship election.
Adeleke also presented his Certificate of Return to the President during the meeting.
Tinubu congratulated Adeleke and urged him to use his second term to deliver greater progress for Osun residents.
“You are in a very unique position to make history, expand your coast, because that’s the only way you can give thanks to osun people, not the way you found it but the way you act,” Tinubu told Adeleke.
The meeting came days after Tinubu publicly congratulated the governor on his re-election.
The President said Adeleke’s victory reflected the choice of Osun voters and praised the peaceful conduct of the election.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” Tinubu said.
“The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” he added.
According to INEC, Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
ADC candidate Najeem Salaam finished third with 17,180 votes.
Adeleke had previously won his first term under the PDP before leaving the party in December.
Tinubu also commended other contestants for their participation and contribution to Nigeria’s democratic process.
