UPDATE: Governor Abiodun Hails IGP Disu as Ogun and Lagos Police Tighten Grip on Kidnappers Through Operation Kosaye

A major security operation targeting kidnappers and violent criminals has continued to gain attention after Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, praised the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for launching Operation Kosaye, a joint security initiative between Ogun and Lagos states.

The governor said the operation has yielded impressive results within a short period, restoring confidence among residents and making both states increasingly unsafe for kidnappers, armed bandits and other criminal groups.

The commendation comes as security agencies continue coordinated operations across forests, border communities and known criminal hideouts.

Moreover, Governor Abiodun described the initiative as one of the most effective security collaborations in recent years.

He noted that intelligence-driven policing and teamwork have helped security operatives disrupt criminal activities before they escalate into major threats.

Speaking on the operation, the governor said the joint initiative reflects a proactive approach to tackling insecurity along the Ogun-Lagos corridor.

According to him, the success recorded so far proves that criminals can be effectively confronted when security agencies work together beyond state boundaries.

He explained that Operation Kosaye has resulted in coordinated security operations across difficult terrains where criminal gangs had previously operated.

Furthermore, he stated that armed bandits have been neutralised, several criminal suspects have been arrested, and kidnapped victims have been rescued through sustained police operations.

The governor described the achievements as a clear demonstration of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

He also noted that the operation has strengthened public trust in law enforcement agencies.

According to Governor Abiodun, “the operation has restored public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and reinforced the commitment of security agencies to the protection of lives and property.”

Meanwhile, he observed that criminal groups are finding it increasingly difficult to operate within Ogun and Lagos because of the continuous security pressure.

The governor explained that the offensive against kidnappers and other violent offenders has reduced opportunities for criminals to exploit border communities as safe locations.

In addition, he assured residents that his administration remains committed to supporting security agencies with the resources needed to sustain the operation.

Governor Abiodun said investment in logistics, surveillance technology and operational equipment will continue to receive priority.

According to him, these efforts have complemented ongoing police operations and improved security across the state.

Furthermore, the governor applauded the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos states, CP Bode Ojajuni and CP Tijani Fatai, for their leadership throughout the operation.

He also commended the officers and men participating in the security exercise for their professionalism and courage.

The governor noted that their commitment has played a significant role in the successes already achieved.

According to him, “their professionalism, courage and unwavering dedication to duty have been instrumental to the successes already recorded.”

He added that the operation has shown the value of intelligence sharing and coordinated security efforts between neighbouring states.

Therefore, he encouraged other states across Nigeria to adopt similar collaborative security models.

He said criminals often exploit state boundaries to evade arrest, making inter-state cooperation necessary for effective policing.

Such collaborations allow security agencies to share intelligence, deploy resources efficiently and respond quickly to emerging threats.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed that protecting lives and property remains one of his administration’s highest priorities.

He pledged continued support for the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies through sustained investment in operational resources and modern security technology.
