Actor Mofe Duncan Fires Back at Daddy Freeze Over Comments on Alexx Ekubo’s Tribute Night

A fresh controversy has emerged following the service of songs held in honor of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, with actor Mofe Duncan publicly criticizing media personality Daddy Freeze over remarks he made about the event.

Many believe the focus should remain on celebrating Alexx Ekubo’s life rather than disagreements surrounding the tribute gathering.

Mofe Duncan did not hold back as he accused Daddy Freeze of shifting attention away from the purpose of the event. According to the actor, the evening was organized to honor and celebrate the late movie star, not to fuel public criticism.

The dispute began after Daddy Freeze reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with aspects of the service of songs. However, Duncan argued that the event reflected the wishes and personality of Alexx Ekubo and should have been respected as such.

In a strongly worded response, Duncan wrote:

“With all due respect Sir… the night wasn’t about You or anyone else but ALEXX.”

The actor explained that the gathering was never intended to be a traditional funeral service.

Instead, he emphasized that it was designed as a night of worship, tributes, and celebration of life.

According to him, several hymns were performed during the event, creating emotional moments for attendees.

He stated:

“It was NOT a FUNERAL, it was a NIGHT OF TRIBUTES & A SERVICE OF SONGS.”

Furthermore, Duncan pointed out that worship music formed a major part of the program because of Alexx Ekubo’s personal love for worship.

He added:

“It was a NIGHT OF WORSHIP, because if you were listening or paying attention and not caught up with your desire to want to observe and rush back online to report things you had issues with, you would’ve heard when members of ALEXX’s inner circle reiterated countless times that ALEXX LOVED TO WORSHIP.”

The actor also questioned Freeze’s criticism of the event’s structure.

Moreover, he suggested that the media personality may have misunderstood the purpose of the gathering.

Another issue raised by Duncan involved the event’s dress code.

According to him, guests were encouraged to wear white as part of the celebration. However, he claimed Daddy Freeze attended wearing black.

He wrote:

“You wore BLACK to an ALL WHITE celebration of ALEXX’s life.”

Meanwhile, Duncan expressed disappointment over Freeze’s admission that he became upset and left the event before its conclusion.

The actor viewed that decision as disrespectful to the memory of the late actor.

In one of the most emotional parts of his response, Duncan stated:

“And lastly, the audacity to come online and say you were angry and you left. May people not walkout on your own night of tributes.”

Furthermore, the exchange highlights the emotions often associated with memorial events, especially when public figures are involved.

While opinions remain divided, many supporters believe the primary focus should remain on honoring Alexx Ekubo’s legacy and contributions to Nollywood.
