“I Can’t Live the Life I Want” — Popular Actor Kevin Ikeduba Quits Nollywood

In a surprising move that has stirred reactions across Nollywood, veteran actor Kevin Ikeduba has announced his decision to step away from acting after more than two decades in the industry.

Speaking candidly, Ikeduba explained that his decision was driven by personal struggles and unmet expectations. He admitted that, despite his years of experience, the industry has not provided the level of financial stability many assume.

“After over 25 years in Nollywood, the reality is it hasn’t given me the financial stability people assume. I still can’t live the life I desire,” he said.

The actor further revealed that he plans to relocate permanently to the United States. According to him, the move is part of a broader effort to rebuild his life and explore new opportunities outside acting.

“I’ve made the decision to leave acting behind, move to the U.S. permanently, and start afresh. If possible, I may even join the army or secure a stable job to rebuild my life,” he added.

Kevin Ikeduba, born on August 21, 1976, has been a familiar face in Nollywood for years. He began his acting career in 2000 and later gained recognition in the Yoruba movie industry. Moreover, he won the Best Cross Over Actor award at the 2014 Yoruba Movie Academy Awards.

Over the years, he has featured in several notable films. These include The Suitors (2000), Emotional Tears (2003), Ògìdán (2004), and More Than Gold (2005). Furthermore, he appeared in Ghetto Language (2006), Last Dance (2006), and Under The Sky (2006).

Despite his achievements, the actor’s recent statement suggests that success in Nollywood does not always translate to financial comfort.
