Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has shared his personal target for the 2025/2026 Bundesliga season, stressing that his priority at Werder Bremen is consistency, teamwork, and staying injury-free rather than chasing goal records.
The 24-year-old striker, who joined Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window, has endured a slow start, yet remains optimistic.
Despite not scoring in eight appearances so far, Boniface has contributed two assists and played a vital role in Bremen’s recent 2–1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg.
Speaking to SABC Sports, Boniface made it clear that his mindset goes beyond personal glory.
“Football is like life. Sometimes you have good moments, sometimes bad ones, but the most important thing is to find the right way,” he said.

“It’s not about me scoring; it’s about the results of the team. I can be scoring and we are losing, I don’t want that. I want a situation where we can win games, and when we start winning, the goals will come.”
Boniface, who has previously suffered two cruciate ligament injuries, said his biggest ambition this season is to complete the campaign without injury and help Bremen achieve their objectives.
“For me, personally, my goal is to play the whole season without injury. I just want to help the team in any way I can, score goals, assist and stay fit. The rest will follow,” the forward explained.
His approach underlines a matured mindset built from his early struggles in European football.
Before his move to Leverkusen, Boniface played in Norway and Cyprus, where he developed the resilience that defines his career today.
Despite missing out on Nigeria’s latest 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gabon, Boniface remains mentally strong and focused on rediscovering his best form.
“I grew up with my grandparents in Africa, so I learned toughness early. I’ve played in places I never imagined Norway, Cyprus and I’ve learned a lot. The media will always talk, but I don’t let that bother me. My head is strong; I just focus on getting better,” he said.
The Bundesliga Rookie of the Year 2024 believes Bremen can climb higher up the league table if the squad maintains discipline and unity.
Although he has yet to open his goal account, Boniface’s vision and movement have already strengthened the team’s attacking play.
