Another wave of tragedy has struck Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, previously known as Kogi State University, following the sudden death of a lecturer under questionable circumstances.
According to reports making rounds on social media, Dr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle allegedly died in a hotel room during a private meeting with a female 200-level student.
The shocking incident, which reportedly happened at an undisclosed hotel in Anyigba, has left the university community in total disbelief.
This development comes just weeks after the institution mourned a fourth-year student who was killed by kidnappers.
Although the identities of the lecturer’s department and that of the student remain unconfirmed, pictures allegedly showing the face of the deceased lecturer have surfaced online.

The school’s silence on the matter so far has left many searching for answers.
An eyewitness account, currently circulating online, reveals that the lecturer, who was reportedly a father of about 15 children and recently divorced for eight months, had consumed three bottles of Guinness before the hotel meeting.
“He took 3 bottles of Guinness before arriving at the hotel and later ordered one bottle after the first round of sex,” the witness claimed.
It was further gathered that trouble started when the lecturer, while preparing for a second round, began to show signs of distress.
The female student, sensing that something was wrong, reportedly raised an alarm and called for help.
The eyewitness continued, “The student who was the sexual partner noticed some changes during an attempt for a second round of sex and called the attention of the hotel management, then alerted the Nigeria Police Force before the man gave up the ghost.”
Hotel workers and police officers were said to have responded swiftly, but the lecturer was confirmed dead shortly after.
Meanwhile, the university has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
However, many students and staff have expressed their disbelief and sadness over the lecturer’s death, which is now being discussed widely both online and offline.
