Terry G Clears the Air: “I Didn’t Steal AY.Com’s Hit Song”

Nigerian singer and producer Terry G has finally broken his silence on the long-running controversy surrounding the hit song Pass Me Your Love.

The track, which originally belonged to AY.Com, featured Terry G and became a nationwide hit in 2009.

However, critics have continued to accuse the eccentric singer of hijacking the track and overshadowing AY.Com’s career by consistently performing it at shows.

The accusations, according to Terry G, are “pure ignorance.”

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Free Madness singer dismissed claims of stealing the song, stating that as a featured artist, he had every right to perform the track.

“To those saying I stole Pass Me Your Love from AY.Com, that’s pure ignorance,” he wrote. “So I don’t have the right to perform a song I collaborated on? Your favourite artists do it all the time, but when it’s me, it becomes a problem. Hypocrisy at its finest.”

Moreover, Terry G clarified that he never released Pass Me Your Love as part of any album or claimed it as his.

He insisted the issue has always been misunderstood and blown out of proportion.

“Some of you ruined AY’s moment with your noise, not me,” he added. “As for my shine, nobody can block it. You no reach.”

While some continue to express support for AY.Com, others applauded Terry G for speaking his truth.

Meanwhile, the debate has reignited conversations around industry credit, collaboration etiquette, and the blurred lines between ownership and association in Nigerian music.
