Ogun Police Issue Strong Warning Over ‘777’ Cult Anniversary Plans

The Ogun State Police Command has issued a firm warning to residents following credible intelligence that cult groups are planning to mark a celebration known as “777” across the state.

The development has triggered a heightened state of alert among security personnel, with reinforcements deployed to all police divisions and area commands to ensure public peace and prevent violence.

In a statement released on Sunday, the spokesperson for the Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, emphasized the police’s resolve to clamp down on any unlawful activity linked to cultism.

“The Command has reinforced security operations across all Divisions and Area Commands to ensure peace and public safety,” Odutola said.

She further warned that any attempt to organize illegal gatherings, processions, or anniversary events by suspected cult groups would be met with immediate and decisive police action.

Moreover, the police have called on parents and guardians to be more vigilant and monitor their children’s whereabouts, especially during this period of increased security tension.

“Young people are strongly urged to avoid loitering or forming clusters in public places. Security operatives will not hesitate to disperse gatherings that raise suspicion or threaten public peace,” the statement added.

The warning comes amid concerns that cult groups may attempt to use the “777” anniversary to carry out coordinated acts of violence or disrupt public order.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies across Ogun State have begun routine patrols and intelligence operations aimed at identifying and neutralizing any threats before they escalate.

Odutola reiterated that anyone found in possession of firearms, dangerous weapons, or related items during this time will face full legal prosecution, regardless of age or affiliation.

“Any individual caught with firearms or weapons will not go unpunished. This is a serious matter, and the law will take its course,” she stressed.

In addition, residents were encouraged to go about their daily activities without fear, but with caution.

The police assured the public that all necessary measures are in place to maintain order and safety.

The Ogun Police Command also appealed to community leaders, school officials, and civil society organizations to support efforts in curbing cult-related activities by reporting any suspicious movements to the nearest police station.

This warning comes at a time when the rise in cult activities across various regions in Nigeria has raised alarm among security agencies and the general public.
