Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has spoken out after surviving a terrifying injury that left him hospitalized in an induced coma.
The Nottingham Forest forward gave a heartwarming update on his health, thanking fans, teammates, and his club for their concern and support.
The injury occurred during Forest’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City, when Awoniyi collided with the goalpost.
Despite clearly being in pain, he continued on the pitch as Forest had already used their final substitution.
However, he was later removed and rushed for emergency medical care.

It was later confirmed that Awoniyi had suffered a ruptured intestine, a serious condition that required immediate surgery.
According to reports, the striker was placed in a medically induced coma and remained in hospital for several days.
Speaking from the hospital, the Nigerian international shared a moving message of hope and gratitude.
“This season has been one of the most difficult of my career, but through it all, I have felt the love,” he wrote.
“With the grace of God, I am grateful to still be here, to still be fighting, to still be smiling, and to be in good spirits.”
Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury update brought relief to fans and teammates alike.
His words carried strength and appreciation.
“To my teammates, coaches, staff, and the entire Forest family, thank you for your well wishes.
Seeing you all on your visit to the hospital lifted my spirits more than words can say,” he added.
Moreover, the club showed strong support before their recent match against West Ham.
Players wore white warm-up shirts with the message “We’re all with you Taiwo” across the front.
His name and jersey number 9 were printed on the back, symbolizing unity and care from the club.
Morgan Gibbs-White, who opened the scoring in the game, paid tribute by holding up Awoniyi’s jersey during his celebration.
It was an emotional moment that reflected the deep bond shared by the team.
Coach Nuno Espirito Santo earlier confirmed that Awoniyi would remain in the hospital for a few more days as he continued recovery.

Therefore, he was unable to travel with the team for the match.
Awoniyi also gave thanks to his supporters from home.
“To my family, friends, and football fans, thank you for the support,” he said.
“To everyone back home in Nigeria who has checked in on me, prayed for me, and left kind words, thank you.
I see them. I feel them. And I carry them with me every day as I recover. Come on you Reds.”
His message not only showed strength but highlighted how love and support can help in healing.
