Efforts to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine have reportedly reached an advanced stage, according to U.S. President Donald Trump.
During a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House on Thursday, February 27, Trump expressed optimism about the ongoing negotiations, praising Russia’s role in the discussions.
Sitting alongside Starmer in the Oval Office, Trump revealed that while a deal had not yet been finalized, significant progress had been made.
“I think Russia has been acting very well. … I think we’re very well advanced on the deal, but we have not made a deal yet,” he stated.

The meeting between Trump and Starmer also touched on security concerns in Europe.
The British Prime Minister urged the United States to provide a security backstop for European forces that could be involved in a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine once the agreement is finalized.
This request highlights the importance of long-term stability in the region and the role of international cooperation in maintaining peace.
Furthermore, Trump reassured the public that any deal reached would be strong enough to prevent further conflict.
He expressed confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not attempt to invade Ukraine again, emphasizing that peace efforts were being handled with caution.
However, he declined to reveal specific details about the peacekeeping arrangements until an agreement was officially reached.
