The Nigeria Police Force has raised a nationwide alarm over possible attacks on vulnerable locations.
The warning comes amid intelligence suggesting increased movement and planning by suspected terrorist elements.
Places of worship, schools, NYSC camps and other public locations have been identified as possible targets.
A police wireless message dated September 13, 2026, reportedly contained the warning.
The message was issued by the Force Department of Operations in Abuja.
It was circulated to police formations and Commissioners of Police across the country.
Police identified parts of the North-East, North-West, North-Central and South-West as areas of concern.
According to the alert, armed elements reportedly moved from Katsina through Kaduna towards Plateau State.
The Force also raised concerns about suspected ISWAP members and local collaborators conducting surveillance.
Schools received particular attention because of the approaching 2026/2027 academic session.
Police warned that crowded schools could become vulnerable during the resumption period.
The alert also linked the security concerns to the approach of the 2027 general elections.
Authorities fear possible attacks could create panic and disrupt communities.
The Nigeria Police security alert directed commanders to increase patrols and surveillance.
They were also told to strengthen stop-and-search checks and security around important entry points.
Police further ordered tighter security along state borders and major routes.
Commanders were directed to work with schools, religious leaders and NYSC officials.
The goal is to improve information sharing and detect possible threats early.
The Force also ordered immediate reporting of credible threats or security incidents.
