Nnamdi Kanu Accuses Judge of Bias Over Family Corruption Case

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has accused Justice Binta Nyako of bias in his ongoing trial, alleging that her family’s legal troubles have influenced her judgment.

He made the claims during a recent court session, insisting that pressure had been placed on the judge to convict him in exchange for leniency towards her husband and son, who are reportedly facing corruption charges.

During the proceedings, Kanu strongly criticized the Nigerian judiciary, asserting that “poor knowledge of the law is killing Nigeria.”

Furthermore, he argued that his push for self-rule should not be considered a crime, citing legal precedents that, according to him, undermine the basis of his trial.

He also referenced Supreme Court rules, claiming that Justice Nyako’s handling of the case indicated a lack of impartiality, and called for her withdrawal from the proceedings.

In addition, Kanu reiterated his long-standing allegation that the Nigerian government had unlawfully taken him from Kenya, describing his extradition as an illegal act that violated international law and his fundamental rights.

According to him, the manner in which he was brought back to Nigeria further highlights the government’s disregard for due process.

Meanwhile, his legal team continues to insist that the trial lacks credibility due to what they believe are procedural irregularities.

The accusations against Justice Nyako have sparked fresh concerns over the fairness of Kanu’s trial.

However, legal experts argue that claims of bias should be thoroughly examined to ensure that justice is served.
