Lacle confirmed that the airline had secured approval to operate three flights weekly—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. He also hinted that the frequency of the flights may increase as demand grows.

“The connection between Sierra Leone and Nigeria is strong, especially in terms of trade, and we have a market. Everybody is trying to be part of that market,” Lacle said.

For the inaugural flight, Air Sierra Leone’s aircraft transported 36 passengers to Nigeria.

The partnership with XEJet is designed to meet the current market demand while providing high-quality service to passengers.

The airline has committed to adjusting its operations as necessary, with Lacle noting that, “The moment we see the market changes, we will adjust.”

The Chief Executive Officer of XEJet, Iza Emmanuel, also spoke at the event, describing the return of Air Sierra Leone to Nigeria as a “rebirth.”

He emphasized the significance of the milestone for both nations, stating, “After over 15 years, the Sierra Leonean flag again takes to the skies.

To our dignitaries and guests from Sierra Leone and Nigeria, your presence here today is a testament to the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite our nations.”

Emmanuel added that the airline’s return symbolizes resilience and growth for Sierra Leone, with a shared vision of growth, connectivity, and opportunity for both countries.

This move is a cause for celebration, as it provides a direct link between Sierra Leone and Nigeria, making it easier for citizens of both countries to travel and do business.

Air Sierra Leone’s return not only strengthens diplomatic ties but also opens doors for increased trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

However, the airline’s re-entry, the relationship between Sierra Leone and Nigeria is set to continue flourishing, creating more opportunities for citizens to move freely and contribute to the growth of both economies.
