Lagos State has recorded major security wins this month, as police arrested dozens of suspects during a wide sweep across the state.
Officers recovered 43 vehicles along with firearms and cash, the operations targeted armed robbery, cultism, and illegal weapon possession.
This Lagos police September crackdown was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai, who shared details during a media briefing in Lagos.
According to Fatai, 32 suspects were arrested throughout the operations, Officers also recovered N2.5 million in cash from various raids.
Weapons seized included pump-action guns and locally made pistols, Police also found ammunition, criminal charms, and vehicle spare parts.
Sadly, the operations came with heavy losses too as Sergeant Johnson Okediji lost his life during a stop-and-search operation on September 26.
Police say a Lexus ES 350 struck him during the encounter, the 21-year-old driver, Olumide Olusola, reportedly sped off as the officer approached.
Okediji suffered serious injuries from the incident, he was later confirmed dead upon arrival at LASUTH.
The suspect was quickly arrested, and the vehicle was recovered, Fatai urged residents to cooperate during lawful police stops going forward.
This Lagos police September crackdown also targeted illegal vehicle documentation, Officers impounded over 41 vehicles during an early morning operation.
In a separate case, police arrested a suspect along Oko Oba Road,items recovered included a locally made pistol and various vehicle parts.
Another arrest followed an alleged armed robbery at a lounge in Abule Egba, victims reportedly lost jewelry during the attack.
Police also tackled cult-related activity across several locations, Multiple suspects were arrested in Badagry, with some already facing court charges.
In Oshodi, a 15-year-old was arrested for allegedly hiding firearms inside bread, officers recovered pistols and ammunition from the discovery.
CP Fatai commended his officers for their dedication during the operations, he urged residents to continue sharing credible information with police.
