President Donald Trump has expressed strong support for Elon Musk, stating that any Cabinet member unhappy with him would be “thrown out.”
During his first Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 26, Trump praised Musk for his leadership of DOGE, which he claimed saved American taxpayers $65 billion through budget cuts.
“Elon Musk, who is ‘tremendously successful,’ is sacrificing a lot to head up the agency,” the president said.
When asked about reports suggesting some Cabinet members were uncomfortable with Musk’s growing influence, Trump dismissed the concerns.
“Anybody unhappy with Elon? If you are, we’ll throw them out of here. Anybody unhappy?” he asked jokingly.

His Cabinet members, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, quickly shook their heads.
Trump emphasized that his team had great respect for Musk’s work.
“Some disagree a little bit, but for the most part, I think everyone is not only happy, they’re thrilled,” he added.
Musk also praised Trump’s administration, calling it “the best Cabinet ever, literally.”
He continued, “I do not give false praise. This is an incredible group of people. I don’t think such a talented team has ever been assembled.”
The meeting followed reports from CNN suggesting that Musk’s directives, particularly his demand that federal employees respond to weekly progress emails or face termination, had caused tension among government officials.
CNN reported that Cabinet members and members of Congress were frustrated when Musk’s directive was sent without prior notification.
Some government agencies reportedly struggled to adjust to the sudden mandate, leading to internal disagreements.
An anonymous White House official told CNN, “A lot of agencies weren’t given a heads-up, which caused some headaches.”

However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt rejected these claims, stating,
“The Cabinet secretaries have not said that. I know anonymous sources, probably career bureaucrats, have leaked that.”
She added, “Everybody is working as one team, and the president respects the decisions of his Cabinet secretaries.”
Despite the controversy, Musk’s influence within the administration remains strong.
The president’s remarks reinforced his trust in Musk’s leadership and suggested that his role in the government would only expand.
However, with Trump’s backing, Musk is likely to remain a key player in shaping federal policies and reforms.
