A shocking Kaduna church attack Easter incident has left communities in disbelief after worshippers were targeted during a church service.
The assault, which occurred in Ariko village, has raised fresh concerns about safety during religious gatherings.
At least five people were confirmed dead at the scene.
However, 31 civilians were rescued by troops following a swift military response. The attack was said to have taken place during an Easter service in Kachia Local Government Area.
Moreover, security forces have since launched a manhunt for the attackers, who fled after the incident.
The incident unfolded while worshippers had gathered to celebrate Easter. Suddenly, armed attackers stormed the area, creating panic and confusion among those present.
Meanwhile, several individuals were taken hostage during the attack. The Nigerian army later confirmed that dozens of victims had been successfully rescued.

However, the full number of those initially abducted remains unclear.
Troops were deployed shortly after the attack was reported. As a result, 31 civilians were rescued from captivity.
In addition, efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators. The military has stated that its forces are actively pursuing the attackers across nearby areas.

Earlier reports from local sources suggested a higher death toll. The chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State, Caleb Maaji, provided additional insight.
He revealed that two churches were affected during the incident.
“Findings are still ongoing,” Maaji said.
