Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun, a former Deputy Speaker of Ekiti House of Assembly, made a call on politicians and stakeholders in the state to ensure the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s governorship election.

In an interview in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, Olatunbosun urged security agencies to resist any attempt to disrupt the election.

According to him, a credible, free and fair election is critical to the development of the state, hence appealing to politicians and all their supporters to prioritize their interests, instead of fuelling disunity among the residents. He said:“We appreciate the efforts being made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders so far, but no Nigerian must be disenfranchised.“More than ever before, we want the vote of all eligible voters in the state not only to count, but must be seen to be free, fair, and credible.“Politicians must understand the plight of the residents and desist from any action that will lead to disunity among them” .

Olatunbosun,Chairman of the State House of Assembly Service Commission, said there was an urgent need to sustain the economy and the best way to do that is through continuity.”Hence, my appeal to all voting-age residents of Ekiti to go out on Saturday and exercise their right by voting for theAll Progressives Congress and its candidate, Biodun Oyebanji.“The state can only develop and sustain its relevance in the comity of States if only we allow the APC, whose present governor in the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi is the Chairman of all the governors.”

“Currently, we are one of the fastest-growing states in Nigeria, I, therefore, urge the electorate to focus on issue-based campaigns and desist from disinformation or fake news and cast their votes right.“It is also important that the electorate desists from using religion and ethnicity to further divide the country.“The level of division we have seen is enough. It is time for us to be united and join hands in the train of continuity,” he said.

He urged the electorate to come out en masse to elect the leader of their choice, to which they would support his initiatives that will unite and promote good governance in the state.
