The latest of the continent’s major leagues to announce a return to play in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, South Africa’s domestic soccer competitions is set to resume on Aug 8.
Matches are scheduled to be played in a secure bubble environment in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Fans will not be allowed into the venues as all matches will be played behind closed doors this year with the country yet to reach its peak of infections.
Before the league resumes three days later on Aug. 11, the season will get back under way with the semi-finals of the domestic FA Cup competition.
South Africa has earned the 5th highest number of Coronavirus recorded cases in the world with number count of 445,433 as of Sunday, but has low death count of 6,769.
Egyptian domestic football is due to resume on Aug. 6 while Morocco’s domestic league is set to resume on Monday the 3rd of August.
