Sexual Assault Scandal Rocks Delta Festival, Organizer and Four Arrested

The Delta State Police Command has arrested the organizer of a popular community festival following serious allegations of sexual assault. The incident, which has stirred outrage across the state, reportedly occurred during the Oramudu Festival in Ozoro community.

Moreover, several young women were said to have been assaulted and molested during the event.

Police confirmed that Chief Omorede Sunday, the festival organizer, was arrested alongside four others. Furthermore, their arrest followed multiple reports from victims and witnesses.

The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, strongly condemned the incident. He described the alleged acts as serious crimes. He stated that sexual violence is unacceptable and must be addressed. Therefore, an immediate investigation was ordered.

Meanwhile, the case has been escalated for deeper scrutiny. According to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the matter has been transferred for further investigation.

He said, “CP Aina Adesola, has ordered that the case be immediately transferred to State criminal department (SCID) for further investigation.”

Moreover, law enforcement teams have been mobilized to ensure no suspect escapes justice.

Edafe added, “Tactical and investigative assets have been duly deployed with a clear mandate to identify, apprehend, and ensure the prosecution of all individuals found culpable.”

The police have appealed to the public for cooperation. In addition, victims and witnesses have been encouraged to share useful information. Authorities assured that all reports would be handled with care and confidentiality. This, they say, is necessary to ensure justice is served.

According to the statement, “All information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality and the highest level of professionalism.”

Commissioner Adesola reiterated that protecting citizens remains a priority. Therefore, efforts are being intensified to ensure accountability. He also urged residents to stay law-abiding and vigilant. Meanwhile, security agencies continue to monitor the situation closely.
