President Buhari appoints dead Ebonyi ex-lawmaker late chief Tobias Okwuru, as a member of the board of Federal Character Commission. It is on record that, this is not the first time the president will be appointing dead persons to office.
In 2017, appointment into the board of Federal agencies and cooperation list was released, and the names of five dead persons appeared on that list, which includes: Rev. Father Christopher Utau (Benue), Garba Attahiru (Kaduna), DIG Donald Ugbaja (retd), Umar Dange (Sokoto) and Senator Francis Okpozo (Delta)
The late Tobias Okwuru’s appointment alongside 37 others was contained in a letter Buhari sent to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation.
The letter was read on Tuesday during plenary by the Senate president, Ahmad Lawan.
It was reported that the Late Tobias Okwuru died February 2020, at age 59. He was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and served as state auditor of the party before moving to represent his constituency at the National Assembly.
