Pastor Chris Okafor Skips Police Invitation Over Serious Rape Allegations

The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has failed to honour an invitation from the Lagos State Police Command.

The development, followed a public notice issued by the police on Sunday, January 4.

In the statement, the police announced that Okafor had been invited for questioning over allegations of multiple rape and other offences capable of breaching public peace.

However, when the scheduled time arrived, the cleric was nowhere to be found.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, Okafor was expected to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5.

Nevertheless, he failed to show up at the allotted time. Moreover, police sources confirmed that he did not report until late Monday night.

The invitation, police said, followed several petitions and complaints. These complaints reportedly border on alleged sexual offences and actions capable of disrupting public order.

Therefore, the matter was considered serious enough to require direct engagement with the cleric.

In a statement released earlier, and signed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the police explained the reason for the summons.

The statement noted that the invitation was part of an ongoing investigation and was aimed at ensuring fairness and due process.

Meanwhile, Okafor’s failure to honour the invitation as scheduled has sparked public reactions.

The police have not yet disclosed whether further steps will be taken. However, the Lagos State Police Command says it will continue to act within the law, while Nigerians await further developments in the Pastor Chris Okafor police invitation saga.
