A shocking twist has emerged in the Ozoro sexual assault case as the Delta State Police Command confirms more arrests.
The police disclosed that several suspects have now been taken into custody. Moreover, the latest update shows that investigations are progressing faster than expected.
According to officials, the arrests followed fresh intelligence and video evidence. Meanwhile, residents remain unsettled by the disturbing nature of the incident.
The Command revealed that eleven more suspects were apprehended during ongoing operations. This brings the total number of individuals in custody to fifteen.
Furthermore, those arrested include Samson Atukpodo, Steven Ovie, Ugbevo Samson, Afoke Akporobaro, and Evidence Oguname. Others were also picked up during the operation.
The arrests were made after a directive from the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola.
Authorities confirmed that the CP Special Assignment Team was tasked with uncovering the full details. Therefore, efforts are being intensified to ensure no suspect escapes justice.
Preliminary findings suggest that the acts were carried out by criminal elements. However, the Command made it clear that the incident is not linked to any cultural practice.
Officials stressed that such actions should not be associated with community traditions. Moreover, they described the acts as criminal and unacceptable.
