Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Lucky Aiyedatiwa has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election at Ugbonla, Ilaje LCDA.
Aiyedatiwa, who previously served as Deputy Governor under the late Rotimi Akeredolu, is seeking to retain his position against contenders such as Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The election has garnered attention as a test of transparency and trust in Nigeria’s democratic process.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured voters of a credible and orderly election.
Professor Kunle Ajayi, INEC’s National Commissioner for Ondo, Ogun, and Osun States, emphasized, “We have done our own work; we are proud of what we have done, and we will not disappoint the people of Ondo State.”
Ajayi highlighted the commission’s commitment to fairness, urging voters to participate peacefully and for political actors to follow the rules.
However, with all sensitive materials delivered and preparations complete, the election showcases the spirit of transparency necessary to inspire confidence among citizens and move both the state and the nation forward.
