Hon. Abolade Yomi Balogun, a respected member of the NOUN Governing Council, celebrated his 70th birthday on November 8, 2025, in Lagos, drawing an impressive gathering of political leaders, top academics and well-wishers.
The celebration, held at Lydia Halls & Events Center in Ojodu Berger, was filled with heartfelt tributes, warm remarks and unexpected emotional moments.
Balogun, who arrived with his wife, children and grandchildren, was welcomed with cheers and cultural displays.
Messages poured in as colleagues and family reflected on his 17 years of influence within the political and community space.
The gathering included the Chairman of the Governing Council, former Bauchi State Governor Dr. Mallam Isa Yuguda, along with council members, the Vice-Chancellor, the VC-designate, the DVC (Admin), and the Bursar of NOUN.
The first speaker recalled, “I have known the celebrant for about 35–36 years,” showing the depth of their relationship.

Another added, “We normally call him Balogun,” emphasising the familiarity he shares with many.
Guests described him as a devoted father, grandfather and mentor whose life continues to inspire young people.
Several dignitaries shared stories of his selflessness.
One speaker narrated how Balogun offered his vehicle and sound equipment during an early campaign period for the now-President, showing his loyalty.
Another praised him for empowering the youth, especially in the Ojodu Berger area, noting that he supports young people who share similar values with national leaders.
Furthermore, he was celebrated as a man of principle.
A guest said, “He is a good man who ensures to always make the right decisions on behalf of the people.”
Another added, “He is a good mentor… a man of principle… he can’t be manipulated… he is straightforward.”
Others described him as reliable, humble and modest. Comments about his wisdom, calm nature and work ethic were repeated throughout the hall.
Gift presentations followed, ranging from symbolic tokens to grand surprises.
The celebrant later cut his birthday cake with his wife standing proudly by his side.

Meanwhile, guests prayed for long life, strength and continuous progress.
Born on November 8, 1955, Balogun studied at the University of Ile-Ife. His career began in 1976 as a clerk at a flour mill before he founded Mike Harbor International Ltd.
His loyalty within the APC earned him the role of Senior Legislative Aide to the then Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, from 2019 to 2022.
His dedication later contributed to his appointment as a NOUN Governing Council member under President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During his vote of thanks, Balogun said, “For one to attain this age is by God’s grace and I do not take it for granted… all is about patience in this life.”
He added that even after contesting several elections, he remained committed, saying he feels fulfilled being celebrated.
He expressed gratitude to those who travelled by air and road, and praised his children, saying “90% of the hospitality was handled by them… I am so happy and grateful.”
