Nigerian Socialite Cash Madam Dies at 89

Popular Nigerian businesswoman and socialite, Adebisi Edionseri, widely known as Cash Madam, has passed away at the age of 89.

The renowned philanthropist and cultural icon died on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and impact.

In a statement released by her son, Dr. Adebayo Adebowale, the family expressed gratitude for her remarkable life.

The statement read, “With deep gratitude to Allah for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Princess Kadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede), who returned to her creator on January 5, 2025, at the age of 89, following a brief illness.”

The statement highlighted Cash Madam’s contributions to her family and community, describing her as a “shining example of grace, dignity, and unwavering faith.”

It further added, “Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and faith in Allah, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.”

The respected matriarch will be buried on Monday, January 6, 2025, at her residence in the Abeokuta Government Residential Area.

Her passing has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, where many described her as a source of inspiration.

Hadj Lawal Abu Mordiyah, reflecting on her legacy, said, “Cash Madam’s death came as a rude shock to the Muslim community. Her good deeds and dedication to Islam will always be remembered. May Almighty Allah accept her soul and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus.”

Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in, celebrating her influence and vibrant personality. One admirer noted,

“She was fashionable, rich, and a lively Owanbe party goer who enjoyed life to the fullest. May her soul rest in peace.”

Cash Madam was not only admired for her success but also for her compassion and generosity, making her a beloved figure whose loss will be deeply felt.
