Fear spread across Akure after suspected kidnappers stormed a health centre in a shocking midnight attack.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, has raised fresh concerns about safety in public facilities.
The Akure health workers kidnapping has left residents unsettled, especially as the attack targeted a medical centre.
The incident was reported to have taken place around 2 a.m. on March 28. The attackers arrived in a bus and forcefully entered the health facility.
According to reports, the centre is located opposite Mega School in the Oke Ijebu area. The gunmen reportedly moved quickly once inside the premises.
Meanwhile, all staff on duty were rounded up during the raid. The victims included interns who were working at the time.
During the operation, at least six health workers were abducted. They were taken away by the attackers to an unknown destination.
However, patients receiving treatment were not harmed during the incident. They were left behind but were visibly shaken by what had happened.
Meanwhile, residents in the area are calling for swift action from security agencies. They want immediate steps to prevent further incidents.
