Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal has officially signed a new long-term contract with FC Barcelona, keeping him at the club until June 2031.
The Spanish giants confirmed the deal on Tuesday, May 27, marking a significant move in securing one of their brightest stars for the future.
The 16-year-old winger’s previous contract was set to expire in 2026.
However, Barcelona made his renewal a key priority this summer, following his explosive rise in world football.
The extension not only demonstrates the club’s trust in his talent but also strengthens their long-term project.

In a statement released by the club, FC Barcelona said,
“FC Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement for the renewal of his contract which will now tie him to the Club until 30 June 2031.”
Those present included Barcelona president Joan Laporta, first vice president Rafa Yusta, and sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”.
“A contract extension for Lamine Yamal is another demonstration of the solidity of the current Barça project,” the club added.
“The Barça forward made his debut for the first team on 29 April 2023, at the age of just 15, and since then the lad from Mataró near Barcelona has exploded onto the stage that is world football with performances that are already part of FC Barcelona history.”
Meanwhile, the new contract is also expected to come with a deserved pay raise for the teenage star.
Yamal is also set to take over the iconic No. 10 jersey from Ansu Fati a number worn by club legends like Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho.
In 55 appearances for Barcelona, he scored 18 goals and delivered 25 assists, a performance few teenagers have ever managed on such a stage.

Moreover, he made key contributions in some of the season’s biggest matches, including the Champions League semifinal clash against Inter Milan and the decisive El Clásico tie against Real Madrid.
He was instrumental in helping Spain lift the European Championship title, further cementing his position as one of the world’s most exciting football talents.
