Lagos Planning Commissioner,Salako resigns

Due to the tension concerning set of records on different building collapse in Lagos,the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako has decided to resign. The resignation was written in a statement made available by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.“This is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies.Governor Sanwo-Olu thanks the Commissioner for his services to the state and wishes him success in his future endeavours.“The Governor warns all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are” the statement read in part.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, however accepted the resignation of the Commissioner. According to the records,Under him, a 21-storey building in Ikoyi collapsed last year, killing about 50 people, while several others also caved in.The last was the 7-storey collapsed building on Sunday, killing two people.Uncofirmed source also alleged that Salako was indicted by the committee set up by the Lagos State Government to look into the reason for the collapse of 21-storey building in Ikoyi last year.
