This unexpected twist follows a March 2025 jury decision that found Turner, 63, and her son, Sean Kingston, guilty of wire fraud-related charges.

The case has sparked strong reactions from fans of the “Beautiful Girls” singer, with many shocked by the legal developments.

According to court records, the mother and son were involved in a scheme that ran from April 2023 to March 2024.

The pair misled businesses by claiming they had made valid wire transfers for expensive goods.

However, the companies never received payments.

The scam involved more than $1 million in unpaid purchases, including nearly half a million dollars for two luxury watches and over $150,000 for a car.

Turner, who once served time in 2006 for bank fraud, was called the “nerve center” of the operation by U.S. District Judge David S. Leibowitz.

That remark came during her sentencing, where the judge explained why she deserved a longer prison term.

Despite pleas from her legal team for a lighter sentence, citing her health and past charity work, the judge believed her role was too central to ignore.

“Ms. Turner will go to prison; she has earned the prison sentence,” her attorneys admitted in a filing ahead of the court hearing.

Moreover, her team warned that a sentence longer than 30 months would be “a waste of taxpayer resources.”

Nonetheless, the court imposed the five-year sentence.

In addition, documents reveal Turner will be deported to Jamaica following her prison term.

Meanwhile, singer Sean Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, is set to face his own sentencing on August 28.

He was convicted alongside his mother in the same case.

The South Florida-born star rose to fame in the late 2000s with global hits like “Fire Burning” and “Eenie Meenie” with Justin Bieber. He quickly became one of the top reggae-pop artists of his time.

This case adds a dramatic chapter to the singer’s once-glamorous career.

While fans remember him for his chart-topping music, his current legal troubles may change public perception.

The singer Sean Kingston and his mother were indicted in July 2024, just weeks after federal agents stormed his luxury rented mansion in Southwest Ranches, Florida.
