Fresh confusion has emerged following a viral kidnapping claim linked to a GUO Transport incident, as the company has now released an official statement clarifying what truly happened.
According to GUO Transport, the incident in question involved an empty vehicle and not passengers, contrary to earlier claims circulating online.
The GUO Transport incident was confirmed to have occurred on Saturday, April 18, 2026. However, the company stated that the vehicle involved was a Toyota Hiace bus travelling without passengers from Lagos to Onitsha.
In its official statement, the company explained the circumstances surrounding the attack.
“It is with profound sadness that GUO Transport Co. confirms a tragic incident involving one of our vehicles on Saturday, April 18, 2026.”
The statement further revealed that the vehicle was ambushed along the Okada-Benin Road by armed robbers.
“A Toyota Hiace bus, dispatched empty from Lagos to Onitsha, was ambushed by armed robbers along the Okada-Benin Road.”
Sadly, the attack resulted in the death of the driver, marking a tragic loss for the company and his family.
“We regret to confirm that the incident resulted in the loss of our driver. This is a deeply painful loss to the entire GUO family.”
However, this official account contradicts earlier viral claims that suggested passengers were abducted during the attack. In addition, a widely circulated video featured a woman alleging that her daughter, identified as Christiana, was kidnapped during the incident.
The emotional video showed the woman pleading for help after kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom.
“They came to kidnap my pikin for road and they called me say make I bring N50 million. I no get N50 million. Abeg, I dey beg for N10 million. Dem never answer me. Abeg, make people help me.”
Meanwhile, she also said:
“I be widow. Christiana no get papa… Make una help me. I no know where I wan go.”
Despite the emotional appeal, the company’s statement suggests that no passengers were involved in the attack. Therefore, the claim of a kidnapping linked to the GUO vehicle has not been verified.
Moreover, there has been no official confirmation from law enforcement authorities regarding the alleged abduction. Attempts to reach the police for clarification were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

GUO Transport also used the opportunity to call for stronger security measures along the affected route. The company acknowledged the efforts of security agencies but urged more action.
“We commend the efforts of the relevant security agencies and government authorities, and we respectfully urge intensified action to address the persistent security challenges on this corridor.”
Meanwhile, the company stated that its immediate focus remains on supporting the family of the deceased driver.
“Our immediate focus is to support his family during this difficult time, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to them.”
