Debbie “Storm” Clark, a former American Gladiators star, has died at the age of 61.
Clark reportedly died Monday at her home in Boston, with family members present.
Her son, Crayton, said her pacemaker stopped working after she had reportedly been overworking herself.
According to TMZ, Clark passed away in her son’s arms while paramedics were arriving.
Paramedics reportedly attempted to revive her, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Crayton believes his mother died from cardiac arrest, although no official cause has been publicly confirmed.
Clark became part of American Gladiators in 1991 after fellow competitor Gold suffered an injury.
She was given the name “Storm” after producers said she had “blown them all away.”
The former athlete quickly became known for her performances in Powerball and Joust.
Her time on the popular television show ended in 1993 after she suffered a serious ACL injury.
The show also remembered Clark as “an exceptional athlete” with experience in basketball, soccer and track.
Beyond athletics, she once performed the national anthem during an American Gladiators event.
Clark reportedly faced significant personal challenges after leaving the show.
Her son has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her final arrangements.
The family hopes to spread her ashes with her mother as part of her farewell.
Clark is survived by her son, Crayton, who remained close to her during her final years.
