Family electrocuted in Nnewi

Adaeze a 10years old girl and her 55years old mother Mrs Patient Ugbana was electrocuted to death in their shop on Monday in Nnewi.

According to an eyewitness: “The incident was caused by a Mercedes lorry that ran into an electric pole after experiencing brake failure”.

Shortly after the driver was rescued unhurt and the truck cleared, a high tension cable broke and fell on the roof of Mrs Ugbana’s shop, electrocuting her and her daughter to death.

Anambra State Police command, SP Haruna Mohammed said,  “On 18/05/2020 at about 3:30pm, there was a report at Otolo Division that one Mrs Patience Ugbana ‘f’ aged 55 years and her daughter Miss Adaeze Ugbana ”f’ aged 10years were electrocuted in their shop along St Peter’s junction Okpuno Nnewichi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State when a high tension electric wire allegedly fell on victim’s shop.”

“Police operatives visited the scene and victims were rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi for treatment but they were confirmed dead by a medical Doctor on duty.” The Police Public Relations Officer said.
