Edo State Government Demolishes Kidnap Sponsor’s House as Security Crackdown Intensifies

The Edo State Government has demolished a house allegedly linked to a suspected kidnapping sponsor.

The action comes as authorities intensify efforts to tackle insecurity across the state. Moreover, the move signals a tougher approach against individuals accused of supporting criminal networks.

Officials said the property was connected to Christian Okoduwa, who is accused of sponsoring kidnapping activities. He was also alleged to have brought individuals from outside Edo State to support criminal operations.

The demolition was carried out in Uromi, located in Esan North-East Local Government Area.

According to state authorities, the operation was conducted under existing anti-kidnapping laws. These laws allow properties allegedly used for criminal activities to be forfeited and destroyed following due process.

The latest action has become one of the most talked-about developments in the state’s ongoing security efforts.

The operation was reportedly executed under the government’s “Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists” initiative. In addition, members of the special security task force worked alongside the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups.

Security officials believe criminal gangs often rely on safe locations to plan activities and hide victims. Therefore, removing such locations is viewed as an important step in disrupting criminal operations.

Meanwhile, security agencies have expanded intelligence gathering and enforcement activities in several communities.

Authorities noted that some criminal networks allegedly operate across state boundaries. As a result, efforts have been increased to identify individuals suspected of providing support, logistics, or shelter to criminal groups.

Furthermore, security reports indicate that major transport routes have become targets for kidnappers in recent years.

Beyond Uromi, security operations have also been intensified in other parts of Edo State. Raids have reportedly been launched in Auchi following a rise in cult-related killings.

Moreover, law enforcement agencies have continued to monitor areas considered vulnerable to criminal activities. Several operations have been carried out to improve public safety.

Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration has repeatedly stated its commitment to fighting insecurity. Consequently, more security measures are expected to be introduced in the coming months.
