Early Friday, June 20, 2025, EFCC agents in Makurdi detained Aondona based on serious complaints lodged by female students.

According to EFCC’s Head of Media, Dele Oyewale, the complainants accused the governor’s aide of unethical acts that include recruiting “slim and attractive girls for ushering jobs” while demanding sexual favours as a prerequisite.

Oyewale explained, “He insisted on sexual favours as a condition for selection.”

Victims claim that after these intimacies, he secretly recorded them and later used the footage to force continued compliance under threat of exposure a classic sextortion scandal tactic.

Further, the EFCC alleges Aondona circulated explicit videos via messaging apps without consent and threatened victims with public release.

Oyewale’s statement emphasised that authorities found “‘videos of every sexual act without their consent’” and that the suspect allegedly distributed “some of the videos… in circulation.”

Following the arrest, Aondona is now being held at the Makurdi Zonal EFCC office as detectives deepen their investigation.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, the EFCC confirmed he will be charged to court once investigations wrap up.

The anti‑corruption agency emphasised its dedication to bringing justice and reform to government institutions.
