Former FIRS Boss Babatunde Fowler, currently undergoing interrogations at the EFCC office over alleged N100bn fraud

The Former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler has been arrested by the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) following the alleged 100 billion naira fraud perpetrated under his watch. It is alleged to have been connected with a firm Alpha Beta Consulting.

The Former Boss of the Federal Inland Revenue Service is currently undergoing interrogation at the EFCC Lagos office.

President Buhari had sacked the then Chairman of the FIRS, Babatunde Fowler last year February 2019 after a query for worsening tax revenues since 2015. Nine senior officials of the FIRS was apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged multi-billion naira fraud.

The former Chairman was accused of poor corporate governance structures at the FIRS, poor audits at the FIRS, brazen corruption, diversion of funds, bankrolling extravagant parties, lavish lifestyle and many more.

Babatunde Fowler who happens to be a long-time ally of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and also a close friend to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, is currently at the EFCC Lagos office for questioning on Monday the 2nd of November 2020.
