AC Milan Sack Conceicao After Poor Season Finish, Allegri Set to Return

AC Milan have officially ended their short partnership with Sergio Conceicao, just six months after his arrival at the club.

The decision follows a string of underwhelming results that left fans and management deeply concerned about the club’s direction.

Conceicao took over from Paulo Fonseca last December, signing an 18-month contract.

His appointment sparked brief hope, especially after he led Milan to a quick victory in the Italian Super Cup just a week into his new role.

However, the good start soon faded.

Despite that early silverware, Milan lost the Coppa Italia final to Bologna.

More critically, their Serie A campaign collapsed.

The team finished in eighth place, ruling them out of European football for the next season.

In a statement released by the club, AC Milan confirmed the end of the relationship.

“AC Milan and Sergio Conceiçao will not continue their journey together next season,” the club announced.

The statement continued: “The Club would like to thank Sergio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism and dedication shown during their time leading the First Team over the past few months.

The AC Milan family parts with the coach who won the 50th trophy in the Club’s history, wishing him the best for the future.”

Sacking Sergio Conceicao was viewed by many as a sad but necessary decision.

The pressure of finishing outside the top European spots was simply too heavy for the Milan board to ignore.

Moreover, the season ended with a sharp contrast in fortunes.

While Milan watched from the sidelines, their fierce rivals Inter Milan are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

That contrast likely played a key role in Milan’s choice to seek a new direction.

Meanwhile, reports from Italy strongly suggest that Massimiliano Allegri is set to return to San Siro.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Allegri has agreed to rejoin the club.

Allegri, now 57, previously coached Milan between 2010 and 2014.

During his previous time at the club, he led them to a Serie A title in the 2010-11 season.

He later moved on to Juventus, where he secured five more league titles.

Allegri has been out of work since departing Juventus at the end of the 2023-24 season.

AC Milan are clearly looking for a more stable future.

Bringing back an experienced and familiar face like Allegri could be the first step toward restoring the club’s lost glory.
