This is to inform you that the the Federal Ministry of Health, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and the Health Development Partners (WHO, UNICEF, ROTARY etc) in collaboration with Lagos State Ministry of Health/Primary Health Care Board have directed that all Children age 0-5 years be given 2drops of Polio vaccine orally in the following 5 Local Government Areas of the State; Apapa, Mainland, Mushin, Somolu and Surulere.
This is in response to polio virus detected in the environment of the above mentioned LGAs.
Lagos State will be implementing 2 rounds of Polio Outbreak response in November and December respectively.
The 1st Round Polio Outbreak Response has been scheduled as follows
Date: Saturday 14th to Tuesday November, 2020.
Time:7am to 1pm daily
Venue: House to house, Schools, Mosques, Churches, shops, malls eateries, play grounds etc.
All eligible children will be vaccinated irrespective of their immunization status within the 5LGAs.
Nigeria was certified free of Wild Polio Virus on the 25th of August, 2020 BUT yet to be certified free of other strains of Polio virus. We need the cooperation of all parents, guardian, proprietors, traditional, community, religious, market, youth, TBA,CSO& NGOs CBOs LGHA, WHC, SMC, opinion leaders to boost the immunity of our children against polio (paralytic) disease.
Remember that all routine immunization & other health care services are available at the health facility as soon as a baby is born ie age 0.
Immunization is safe, effective & free.
