Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured a key role in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, despite belonging to the Accord Party.
Adeleke has been named the Osun coordinator in the campaign council list released by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The appointment comes after the governor publicly backed Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Former Osun Governor Adebisi Akande and ex-deputy governor Iyiola Omisore were also named advisers to the campaign council.
The council is expected to be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 14, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Adeleke’s appointment follows his earlier endorsement of Tinubu before the August 15 Osun governorship election.
At the time, the governor and Accord Party leaders cited major federal projects as part of their reasons.
These projects included the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway.
Adeleke later won re-election with 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.
Speaking to Channels Television, Adeleke denied reaching any political agreement with the president.
“I never reached an agreement with Mr President. My support is just based on, he’s a Yoruba man, and he’s from the South-West,” Adeleke said.

The governor also said he was willing to work with APC members to support Tinubu’s campaign, including Oyebamiji and former governor Gboyega Oyetola.
“Whenever Mr President, when it’s time for him to campaign and all that, whatever how he wants me to come in, I will do it,” he added.
Adeleke’s campaign council also rejected claims that his endorsement followed a political deal. It said his support was influenced by Tinubu’s performance and reforms.
Meanwhile, Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and a major APC figure in Osun, was not included in the released list. The party has yet to explain whether he will receive another role.
His stated support for Tinubu, however, has been public.
