The daughter of the late icon Nelson Mandela Zindzi Mandela is dead.
The South Africa’s Ambassador to Denmark and daughter of Winnie and Nelson Mandela died on Monday at 59.
The South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation had announced on Monday.
Zindzi Mandela would be remembered for serving and representing her country as a good ambassador, a daughter of heroes and a struggle heroine in her own rights.
According to the Minister of International Relations, Naledi Pandor, who disclosed in a short statement on Monday morning said, “Zindzi will not only be remembered as a daughter of our struggle heroes, Tata Nelson and Mama Winnie Mandela, but as a struggle heroine in her own right. She served South Africa well,”
According to the department a detailed statement will be released later as it was still gathering information of the cause of death.
Zindzi died the early hours of Monday morning at a Johannesburg hospital, according to a statement from the office of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
President Cyril Ramaphosa said in a statement, “I offer my deep condolences to the Mandela family as we mourn the passing of a fearless political activist who was a leader in her own right.”
“Our sadness is compounded by this loss being visited upon us just days before the world marks the birthday of the great Nelson Mandela.”
In another statement released by Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation mourning Zindzi Mandela’s death, “She was regarded by many as a child of the nation,” and her death means “South Africa loses an important generational link connecting our divided history to the promise of better, more inclusive, tomorrows.”
A representative for the Nelson Mandela Foundation is yet to issue it’s statement because it’s still consulting with the family (Mandela family) before releasing it’s statement.
The late Icon Nelson Mandela died in 2013 at the age of 95 and his youngest daughter and South Africa’s Ambassador to Denmark died on Monday morning 13th of July 2020, at age 59.
