A deadly attack has forced security agencies into swift action in Taraba State, Police have deployed extra personnel and a helicopter for aerial surveillance.
The move follows a violent incident in Mbanga Village, where several people were reportedly killed and property destroyed during the attack.
This Taraba police helicopter deployment was announced by Commissioner of Police Edwin Ogbegahgha, he revealed the plan during an on-ground assessment of the affected community.
He was joined by the Brigade Commander of the Nigerian Army during the visit, together, they inspected the community to understand the scale of the damage.
During the visit, Ogbegahgha met with local stakeholders and security personnel, their discussions focused on preventing further attacks in the area.
He explained that the Command would intensify security operations going forward, his goal is to restore peace and stability across the troubled community.
This Taraba police helicopter deployment forms part of a wider directive from above. Ogbegahgha confirmed the additional manpower came under instructions from IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
He assured residents that security agencies remain fully committed to their protection.
According to him, joint efforts aim to prevent any repeat of the violence.
The commissioner explained how aerial surveillance will support ground operations, he said it will help security teams monitor threats more effectively across the region.
Ogbegahgha urged residents to stay calm while remaining alert to their surroundings, he appealed for timely information that could help identify those responsible for the attack.
He also called for stronger cooperation between residents, leaders, and security agencies.
According to him, lasting peace can only be achieved through combined effort.
The commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working alongside the military.
