A viral video claiming people are living under the Oja Oba Bridge has sparked fresh concern online.
However, the Lagos State Government says the video does not show the current situation.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the footage is about two years old.
Wahab made the clarification after the video resurfaced and began attracting attention across social media.
He urged bloggers, influencers and media platforms to check information before sharing it publicly.
“I wish to clarify that the video is an old recording, taken approximately two years ago, and does not reflect the current situation at the location.”
The commissioner warned that sharing old or misleading content could cause unnecessary public concern.
He also said such posts could put added pressure on government officials handling environmental issues.
According to Wahab, the state remains focused on keeping Lagos clean, safe and environmentally friendly.
“We remain committed to keeping Lagos clean, safe, and environmentally sustainable.”
He encouraged residents and media users to support the government by sharing accurate and verified information.
The Oja Oba Bridge video has therefore been described as outdated by the Lagos government.
Wahab also shared an image showing what he described as the current condition of the location.
The clarification comes amid continued efforts by the state government to manage public spaces and maintain cleaner surroundings.
Residents have also been encouraged to verify viral claims before reacting or sharing them online.
