FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said a concerned resident alerted officers after witnessing the incident.

Police operatives responded quickly, rescued the girl and arrested the two suspects.

Adeh said investigations showed that the suspects had previously faced court proceedings over a similar offence.

They were arrested in December 2025, convicted and later released on bail after spending about five months in prison.

Further investigations allegedly linked the suspects to the abduction and trafficking of four children.

Police said the children were taken to different parts of the country after their release.

In the latest case, two children were reportedly taken to an accomplice in Port Harcourt.

The woman, identified as Madam Ijeoma, allegedly bought the children for N1.5 million each.

The rescued girl, identified as Ummi Mariam Abdullah, has since been reunited with her family.

The two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.

They are expected to face fresh charges after the investigation is completed. Adeh urged parents and guardians to remain watchful over their children’s safety and whereabouts.

She also encouraged residents to report suspicious activities to the police promptly through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, Complaint Response Unit 08107314192, PPRO FCT 07038979348
