The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects over the alleged possession of suspected human body parts.
The arrests followed separate intelligence-led operations across Iseyin and Shaki areas of the state.
Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade said the suspects were arrested on August 1, 2026.
“The ten suspects here were arrested on the first of August 2026, for allegedly being in unlawful possession of fresh parts suspected to be human parts,” Ayanlade said.
Police alleged that the suspects used the materials for ritual preparations linked to claims of gaining wealth.
One suspect, Nurudeen Ganiyu, said he used a human skull to prepare a ritual mixture.
He claimed someone gave him the skull and promised it would help him become wealthy.
“I was arrested because I used a human skull to make a ritual concoction. They told me it would work for the wealthy, but since the two years I used it, it didn’t do anything. My life just kept getting worse and running down,” he said.
Ganiyu also claimed he stopped after seeing the alleged supplier suffer serious mental problems.
Another suspect, Ismail Abdullahi, said he used human bone in preparing a snail-based concoction.
“I used human bone to make snail concoction. It’s been four years since someone gave me the human bone. He taught me how to use it,” he said.
Other suspects allegedly gave accounts of obtaining human parts from different individuals in Shaki.
One suspect claimed payments between ₦20,000 and ₦30,000 were made for some of the materials.
Another suspect said the rituals had failed to make anyone wealthy.
“No one we used it for has become wealthy,” he said.
The Oyo police human parts arrest remains under investigation, according to the command.
Police have not disclosed the forensic results of the recovered materials.
