The NPF Vigilant App is set to go live in Nigeria. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu will unveil it in Abuja next week, alongside a new MTN network built exclusively for officers.
The event holds on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. It will take place at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre in Abuja. The police say the move will boost tech-driven policing across the country.
This step forms part of a bigger plan, the Force wants better communication and smoother daily operations. Officials believe technology can close old gaps in service.
Force spokesman CSP Ani Iniedu shared details in a statement. He said the NPF Vigilant App will strengthen ties between police and citizens. It aims to improve how information moves between both sides.
The statement also touched on the new MTN Closed User Group network. This system will give officers a private line for talks. It is meant to help staff coordinate faster and more securely.
Iniedu said the launch shows the IGP’s drive for progress. He linked it to a wider push for smart partnerships in policing. The goal is stronger teamwork and quicker response times nationwide.
The Force restated its commitment to modern methods. “The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to harnessing technology, innovation and strategic partnerships to strengthen policing, enhance operational effectiveness and deliver more responsive, efficient and people-centred security services to the nation,” the statement said.
However, many hope the app closes the trust gap between police and the public.
