Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has stunned fans after revealing that she recently underwent major surgery and is now taking time away from public activities to recover.
Sharing the news through her Instagram Story, Ayra Starr explained that she expected a faster recovery. Nevertheless, she said the procedure became more complicated than doctors had originally anticipated.
She wrote, “Hey Mobstarrs, I’m sorry you’re not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick recovery, but it was more complicated than they expected.”
Furthermore, the singer asked fans to remain patient while she takes the time needed to heal. She also encouraged them to continue supporting her forthcoming project.

“I just need a bit of rest, and I’ll be back!!! Starrgirl is coming so soooon. I need everyone out there spreading the word, tell your friends, your family, your neighbours!!! Order Starrgirl ASAP!!! Love you guys,” she added.
Although Ayra Starr did not reveal the nature of the surgery, her message reassured many fans who had been worried about her absence online.
In another update, the singer announced that she had signed copies of the vinyl edition and CD inserts for fans.
She said, “Hey Mobstarrs. I’m signing my first vinyl and CD inserts. Go to shop.ayrastarr.com. Go get your vinyl and your signed CDs.”
Ayra Starr‘s surgery update comes during a major period in her career. Besides preparing for her new music, she recently made headlines after appearing in the official trailer for the Hollywood fantasy movie Children of Blood and Bone.
The film features international stars including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Damson Idris and veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo.
