Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has revealed why she converted from Islam to Christianity, saying the decision followed what she described as a miraculous healing after battling a serious illness for nearly nine years.
Speaking about her experience, Halima explained that she spent years fighting an illness that left her bedridden and struggling through what she described as several near-death experiences.
However, she believes her recovery was made possible through divine intervention rather than medical treatment alone.
According to the actress, surviving the difficult period changed her perspective on life. She said she became convinced that God had spared her life for a greater purpose.
Furthermore, Halima disclosed that she has now dedicated her life to serving God and sharing her testimony with others.
Expressing her joy, she said:
“I’m a brand new person now. I have given my life to Christ. I want to serve God because He has helped me. I almost died. They almost killed me. This is not about movies; this is about restoration and testimony. Halima Abubakar is back, big and better.”
Her statement immediately attracted attention from fans, colleagues, and followers who have watched her health struggles over the years.
In addition, the actress explained that her healing inspired her to openly declare her Christian faith without fear or hesitation.
She added:
“Right now, I’m ready to serve God because He wants me to. He has delivered me, so I need to serve Him and preach His gospel to the people.”

The actress also announced plans to share a detailed public testimony about her recovery.
Halima revealed that she credits her healing to Queen Belemzy Ministries (School of Power). She said the ministry played an important role in what she described as her spiritual and physical restoration.
Meanwhile, her announcement has continued to generate mixed reactions online.
Over the years, Halima Abubakar has remained one of Nollywood’s familiar faces despite spending long periods away from the spotlight because of health challenges.
