IGP Olatunji Disu Announces CSP Anietie Iniedu as New Force PRO

A significant leadership change has emerged within the Nigeria Police Force following the appointment of a new Force Public Relations Officer by Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

The development, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu at the center of the Force’s public communication strategy. The appointment is expected to strengthen engagement between the police and Nigerians amid ongoing reforms across the country.

The CSP Anietie Iniedu appointment was approved by the Inspector-General of Police as part of efforts to improve strategic communication, transparency, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force. The announcement was made in a statement issued from the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the statement, “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has approved the appointment of CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force.”

CSP Iniedu brings years of policing experience to the role. Moreover, he has worked in public communication, intelligence management, administration, and operational policing. His appointment comes at a time when the police are seeking stronger connections with communities and media organizations.

Before his new role, he served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. During that period, several initiatives were introduced to improve accountability and address public complaints. In addition, he coordinated efforts aimed at boosting confidence in the Force.

The newly appointed spokesman is from Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. Furthermore, he has completed professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, strategic communication, intelligence analysis, and human rights-based policing.

Over the years, several important positions have been held by CSP Iniedu. These include Operations Officer in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer in Abia State, and Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat. Meanwhile, he also served as Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa.

In another key assignment, he supervised the Force Headquarters Situation Room. Crime and security information from across Nigeria was monitored and coordinated under his watch.

The statement also highlighted the confidence reposed in him by the police leadership.

According to the release, “The Inspector-General of Police has expressed confidence in CSP Iniedu’s capacity to lead the Force Public Relations Department, noting that his experience and professional background will further enhance the Force’s strategic communication efforts and strengthen public engagement in support of ongoing policing reforms and operational successes.”

However, the appointment goes beyond a routine administrative change.

Meanwhile, DCP Anthony Okon Placid officially exits the position after serving as Force Public Relations Officer.
