Residents of Jos North Local Government Area have received relief after the Plateau State Government announced a further relaxation of the curfew imposed in the area.
The decision follows weeks of restricted movement introduced after a deadly Palm Sunday attack in the Angwan Rukuba community, which left more than 30 people dead and several others injured.
However, authorities now say the security situation has improved significantly following a fresh assessment carried out with security agencies.
The development has been described as a major step toward restoring normal life in the affected communities.
According to the state government, the revised curfew schedule will now allow longer movement hours across Jos North and surrounding areas.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, the government said the adjustment was based on improved security reports.
“The Plateau State Government, in consultation with security agencies, has adjudged as satisfactory the security situation in Jos North LGA and environs,” the statement read.

Furthermore, the government confirmed that the curfew will now run from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily, starting Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
“Accordingly, the curfew earlier imposed on the area is hereby further relaxed as follows: Effective Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the curfew will now run from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily,” the statement added.
Residents have been advised to comply strictly with the new directive and continue cooperating with security agencies.
Moreover, authorities emphasized the need for continued vigilance despite the improved security situation.
“The government appreciates the support and understanding of citizens and urges residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, local businesses and transport operators are expected to benefit from extended evening movement hours.
In addition, security agencies have assured residents that monitoring will continue to prevent any resurgence of violence in the area.
Authorities also encouraged community members to work closely with law enforcement to maintain peace.
