Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated sharply after the Pentagon unusually revealed the location of a nuclear-armed submarine only hours after President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal.
The rare disclosure has drawn global attention because the United States military rarely confirms the movements or positions of its nuclear submarines.
The US Navy’s Sixth Fleet released an image showing one of its powerful Ohio-class submarines docked in Gibraltar, a British territory near Spain.
Meanwhile, President Trump publicly dismissed Iran’s peace proposal through a social media post that quickly gained attention worldwide.
“I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” Trump wrote.
The president also accused the Iranian government of “playing games” with the United States and the international community.

The fleet described the submarine as an “undetectable launch platform” that supports the most survivable part of America’s nuclear defense system.
